Standing up for what you believe in is important. You must take charge of your life and actions. This is not easy. A lot of people are worried about standing out from a crowd, so they prefer to blend in. But by truly knowing who you are and what your morals are, you can muster the courage to be your true self. This helps you make a difference for yourself and others. It helps you “walk your path”.
Through martial arts, I have been through numerous tough gradings. I have fought in world championships against dangerous competition. That takes nerve. However, that all pales into comparison with the decisions I have had to make in life. I could not have had the conviction to go through with those “real life decisions’ without the lessons that I have learned from the arts.
I am an introvert by nature, which makes it doubly harder for me to convey myself. But, martial arts allows you to discover who you really are and what you are made of. You cannot really progress in martial arts unless you are constantly learning the physical, mental and emotional lessons. These lessons have helped me more confidently express myself and stand up for my beliefs. I know it will do the same for you.
